History

Cabo San Lucas boasts a rich history dating back over 13,000 years...

Cabo San Lucas's reputation as a world-class fishing destination is further solidified by its connection to potential world record catches. While not officially a record due to lack of certified weigh-in, a Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) weighing an estimated 94 pounds was caught here in 2015, significantly exceeding the existing record. Deep sea fishing enthusiasts flock here hoping to land a trophy fish of their own.

Beyond the thrill of the hunt, Cabo San Lucas offers a variety of attractions:

  • Natural Beauty: Dramatic rock formations like the iconic El Arco arch, stunning beaches with watersport opportunities (including kayaking, surfing, and diving shipwrecks to explore vibrant coral reefs), and a chance to encounter marine life like whales and dolphins all contribute to its allure. Whale watching is also a big attraction available from December to April.

  • Outdoor Activities: The options extend beyond water activities. Hike through breathtaking landscapes or tee off at world-renowned golf courses.

  • Luxury Amenities: The area is known for its luxurious amenities catering to all budgets, offering world-class spas, and fine dining.

  • Beaches: For those seeking relaxation, Medano Beach offers a swimmable crescent of golden sand with calm waters, perfect for lounging or enjoying waterside bars and eateries. Alternatively, for something more secluded, travelers can explore Chileno Bay or Santa Maria Beach. You can also hire a water taxi to take you to Lover’s Beach or Divorced Beach.

  • Nightlife: Cabo San Lucas is famous for its vibrant nightlife, with bars and clubs offering live music and dancing.

  • Culture and History: Missions, art galleries, and charming towns like San Jose del Cabo offer a glimpse into the area's rich past.
